RI Hopes To Become Gateway For Romanian Products In Asean

London, Dec 11 (Antara) - Indonesia expects to become a gateway for Romanian products coming into the ASEAN market, particularly in the face of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will start in 2015, an Indonesian diplomat said. During her visit to Romania, the Director General of Europe and America at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Dian Triansyah Djani stated that the Indonesian and Romanian governments were committed towards enhancing bilateral cooperation, the Second Secretary of the Indonesian embassy in Bucharest, Hastin Bakti Asih Hasikin said on Wednesday. While in Romania, Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani met with the Director General of Global Affairs at the Romanian Foreign Ministry Carmen-Liliana Burlacu, who was accompanied by the Director of the Asia Pacific Division Aurelian Neagu. At the meeting, both sides discussed the progress made by the two nations since they had opened diplomatic relations in 1950. In general, the two nations agreed that their bilateral relations had been developing well, marked by, among others, exchange of top officials` visits and support for each others` bids for certain positions at international forums. With the admission of Romania to the European Union, Burlacu expressed the hope that Indonesia would benefit from Romania as an entry point for its key commodities into the European market. Meanwhile, Dian said he expected Romania to make Indonesia a gateway for its products meant for ASEAN, particularly in the face of the AEC, which will make the region an attractive market, given its 600 million consumers.
