Seven MoUs Inked Between Prominent Institutions In Singapore And Malaysia

SINGAPORE, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Seven Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) were inked between a number of Malaysian and Singaporean organisations in sectors of education, arts & culture, business and missionary services, recently. Jamiyah Singapore facilitated the inking of the MOUs virtually which was physically witnessed by the newly appointed High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore, Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar while the Malaysian counterparts joined the virtual signing ceremony live. Governor of the State of Melaka Dr Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam was also present virtually from Malacca. The governor is also the President of Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI or can be considered as State of Melaka's flagship NGOs) and Chancellor of Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka (KUIM, an institution owned by the Melaka state government). “Jamiyah Singapore is an important organisation for the Malay-Muslim community in Singapore, which has established cooperation with many instututions in Malaysia, especially in the context of Malay World Muslim World,” said Azfar to Bernama. The new head of Malaysia’s mission said the High Commission will continue extending its cooperation with Jamiyah Singapore in the future for the benefit of the communities in need at both sides of the Causeway. Meanwhile, Jamiyah Singapore President Dr Mohd Hasbi Abu Bakar hoped that closer and better relations can be established between Singapore and Malaysia. The MOUs related to education and arts & culture were signed between Jamiyah Education Centre and KUIM; Sri Warisan Performing Arts Ltd and the Socio-Cultural Bureau of DMDI; and SRIWANA and the Socio-Cultural Bureau of DMDI. Others were between Jamiyah Singapore and the Malaysian Television Producers Association; Jamiyah Singapore and Nasyrul Quran; Airmark Holdings and MyJet Express; and Pure Good Hub and Classic Agro Resources Sdn Bhd. The Jamiyah Singapore, a Malay/Muslim Charity Organisation nearing its 90th anniversary of founding, was also hosting a Felicitation in honour of Azfar, as the 17th High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore. The hybrid event was held physically at the Al-Malik Faisal Hall at Jamiyah Islamic Centre, and screened Live through its Facebook which saw Jamiyah Singapore’s corporate and community partners from Business, Sports, Education, Religious, Arts & Culture, coming together to congratulate Azfar on his new appointment. Azfar was joined by his wife Che Norhayati Soib and other Malaysian High Commission officials. Jamiyah Singapore, also known as Muslim Missionary Society Singapore, was founded in 1932 by the Roving Ambassador of Peace from Meerut, India, Moulana Abdul Aleem Siddique.
