Singapore Shines Watches Available In Mart

SINGAPORE, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Singapore Shines, the winning design of the inaugural National Day Parade luxury watch design competition, is ready for purchase at Azimuth boutiques and Azimuth-authorised retailers here this month. In a statement Wednesday, Azimuth Watch Co said the watch, designed by a 17-year-old student pursuing a multimedia technology course at ITE College West (Choa Chu Kang), was based on the company's innovative mechanical anti-clockwise single-hand watch, Round-1 Back-In-Time. The competition was held among the local schools from January to April this year and the winning design was announced in August. The company received over 80 applications for the contest. It said only 100 pieces of this limited edition 46th National Day watch had been manufactured and each watch retailed at S$2,011, a tribute to the year of its introduction. "Ten pieces of the watch have been presented to the 46th National Day Parade Committee and other Singapore dignitaries to commemorate the first-ever design, manufacture and sale of a student-designed watch in Singapore’s history," it said. Azimuth said as the watch was the only Singaporean brand among the staple of luxury timepieces featured in BaselWorld, the industry’s leading event for showcasing the latest trends and innovations. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
