South Sumatra To develop Creative Economy

Palembang, South Sumatra, July 2 (Antara) - South Sumatra Culture and Tourism Office in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will develop creative economy on the basis of information technology. "The development of creative industry which is based on information technology is intended to raise the spirit of entrepreneurship, capability, networking, and media insight," local Culture and Tourism Office Chief Toni Panggarbesi said here on Tuesday. He made the statement during the familiarization of the way how to increase the number of new entrepreneurs in creative economy in South Sumatra. Panggarbesi noted that the development of creative industry in South Sumatra was promising because the province has a big potential with natural resources in abundance. "The province has abundant natural resources to develop business incubator in creative industry which is based on information technology," he said. He added that by strengthening the information technology in the province, the new entrepreneurs in creative industry could be inspired to produce innovative products with added value and high competitiveness. According to him, business incubator and information technology had the role to develop creative industry following the current development of innovation and technology.
