Ternate Administration To Manage Orange Fortress

Ternate, N Maluku, Dec 31 (Antara) - The Administration of Ternate City, North Maluku, will form a task force unit to manage the Orange Fortress located in Ternate, Head of the Urban and Landscape Planning Office Rizal Marsaoly noted here on Wednesday. "The task force unit will manage the fortress professionally and develop it as a historical site. It will also serve as Ternate`s cultural center," he remarked. According to Rizal, the 15th century fortress will be restored to its original glory in a bid to preserve its historical value, so that it will draw visitors to Ternate. "A herb and spice museum will be set up to show the visitors that these natural resources had attracted the Europeans to visit Ternate, and they later occupied this land for hundred years," Rizal stated. The administration will also restore the other colonial fortresses, such as Kastela, Toloko, Kalamata, and Kota Janji to preserve their existence as historical treasures.
