Thai chefs trained for Thai restaurants overseas
BANGKOK, Sept 6 (TNA) - The Ministry of Labour has launched a campaign to develop skills of Thai chefs in Spain to promote Thai cuisine in overseas markets.
Department of Skill Development director-general Theerapol Khunmuang said that the campaign is being conducted in Spain from Sept 5-11.
A training course on Thai cooking was offered for 56 participants to prepare them for the standard test. If they pass the test, they will be given silver-star shaped pins as a certification to guarantee their qualifications.
Thai embassy in Madrid said there were about 60 Thai restaurants in Spain, so skill development was needed to ensure that Thai chefs meet the standard.
With the official certification, they can apply for the jobs at Thai restaurants. The project is aimed at raising the quality of Thai restaurants in line with the government’s “Thai Kitchen to the World” policy. (TNA)
