Thai SMEs grow 7-8% in 2017
BANGKOK, August 29 (TNA) - The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank) reports that the country's SMEs have grown by 7-8 per cent so far this year, especially those running tourism-related businesses.
SME Bank Director Mongkon Leelatham told journalists of the update on Tuesday, noting that the growth of the Thai SMEs has outpaced the national economic expansion in 2017.
The SME Bank director said the high growth rate of Thai SMEs shows that the local operators of SMEs are now stronger, including those running exporting firms amid the appreciation of the Thai currency.
The SME Bank director pointed out that Thai SMEs running exporting businesses have not been seriously affected by the stronger Thai baht as they can sell their products in a large amount and still can use the Thai currency mainly as the medium of exchange for their border trade. (TNA)
