Thailand’s private power generator eyes to invest overseas
BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) - Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH), a leading Thai investment company in the power generation business, plans to expand its investment overseas, especially in Myanmar.
RATCH Managing Director Pongdith Potchana told journalists on Thursday that, despite ongoing domestic political problems, his company will continue expanding investment overseas to generate more revenues for shareholders and to boost energy security.
Pongdith revealed that RATCH has targeted to raise its electricity generating capacity by 3,857 megawatts to 9,700 megawatts by 2023 in other countries.
The company plans to build a new power station in Myanmar, which will supply one-thirds of the targeted electricity generated overseas, as Myanmar can then supply electricity to Thailand. (TNA)
