Thailand welcomes more Chinese investors
BANGKOK, December 1 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, will lead a Thai delegation for a business roadshow in China to attract more Chinese business operators for their expanding investment in the Thai government's 10 targeted industries.
Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) Secretary-General Hiranya Sujinai told journalists on Friday that the deputy prime minister is scheduled to lead a team of government representatives, comprising of officials from BOI, the Ministries of Commerce, Transport, Science and Technology and Tourism and Sports to China for the mission during December 7-12.
During their stay in China, Hiranya said, the Thai delegation will also organise an activity to attract more investment projects from China and a seminar to create confidence in the Thai economy among Chinese investors in three cities of Beijing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou.
The BOI chief revealed that the deputy prime minister is also scheduled to attend a joint committee on trade, investment and economic cooperation between China and Thailand in Beijing, during which he will invite Chinese business operators to invest more in the Thai government's 10 targeted industries, particularly at the Easter Economic Corridor (EEC).
Besides, the Thai deputy premier will lead BOI representatives to meet with 10 large Chinese entrepreneurs that have shown signs of interests in investing in Thailand, including those in medical research, auto and electric auto parts producers, as well as machine parts producers.
According to the BOI chief, the Thai delegation will also visit the Alibaba Group headquarters, China's largest online shopping website, and Huawei Technology Co.,Ltd, China's leading communcation equipment producer, to learn on their future expansion plans.
"Apart from the upcoming roadshow in the three major Chines cities, BOI plans to organise more seminars and visits other businesses in other Chinese cities throughout 2017, along with similar roadshows and visits to Japan, India, South Korea, and Singapore to attract more investors to the country.
