Thailand's car sale up 10% in Jan-Aug 2017

BANGKOK, September 27 (TNA) - Thailand's total sale of automobiles has been on the rise since early this year, with the sale figure expanding over 10 per cent during the first eight months in 2017. Wuttikorn Suriyachantananont, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., told journalists on Wednesday that total sale of all types of vehicles in the country during the first eight months of this year reached 543,120 units, a 10.2 per cent year-on-year growth. Wuttikorn said total sale of sedans alone during the January-August period expanded by 20.7 per cent year-on-year, while total sale of commercial vehicles grew by 4.3 per cent year-on-year during the same eight-month period. Wuttikorn attributed the expanding sale of automobiles to Thailand's recovering economy and consumer confidence index (CCI), coupled with continual sale promotional campaigns by various car manufacturers. According to the executive vice president, total sale of all types of vehicles in Thailand is likely to further expand this month, on top of the total sale of 67,962 units in August, due mainly to the popularity and high demand of new auto models and positive impacts from the Thai government's economic stimulus measures.
