Turkey attracts 105 billion USD of direct foreign investments in 8 years, says Economy Minister

ANKARA (A.A) - December 28, 2011 - Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said Wednesday that Turkey attracted 105 billion USD of direct foreign investments in the past eight years. Speaking at the Fourth Conference of Turkish Ambassadors in Ankara, Caglayan said that significant economic developments took place in the region. The crisis of 2008 and Arab Spring have negatively affected Turkish exports, Caglayan noted. Despite the crisis, Turkish exports to the European Union (EU) increased 21.6 percent in 2011 when compared to the previous year, Caglayan underlined. With its economic performance, we expect Turkey to advance one spot in the global list of major economies in 2012, Caglayan also said.
