CST Governor Congratulates Leadership on Arrival of Barnawi and Alqarni to ISS

Riyadh, May 22, 2023, SPA -- The Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission and CEO of the Saudi Space Commission, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and President of the Supreme Space Council, on the successful arrival of astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Alqarni to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the AX-2 space mission.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Al-Tamimi commended the generous support and empowerment provided by the wise leadership to the space sector. This support has enabled the Kingdom to achieve remarkable progress in the field of space within a short time. He further highlighted that manned spaceflight is a measure of a country's superiority and competitiveness globally in various fields, including technological and engineering advancements, scientific research, and innovation.
Dr. Al-Tamimi emphasized that the scientific flight of the Saudi astronauts marks the beginning of a new era for the Kingdom in space exploration and is a historic event.
