Doha Port Receives More Than 4,000 Tourists In AIDAcosma's Sixth Voyage To Qatar

Doha, February 20 (QNA) - German cruise ship 'AIDAcosma' docked Monday at Doha Port with 4,000 tourists and 1,438 crew members on board, on its sixth voyage to Qatar, during the 2022/23 cruise season, which lasts until next April. Operated by 'AIDA Cruises' and sailing under the flag of Italy, AIDAcosma is one of the largest cruise ships within the AIDA fleet with a capacity of more than 6,600 passengers and 1,636 crew members, Mawani Qatar reported. The cruise sector in Qatar has contributed to strengthening Qatar's position as a leading destination for cruise tourism in the region. The sector supports the national economy growth by increasing tourism spending and providing more employment and business opportunities. Qatar's cruise sector has recorded a significant growth since the launch of the 2021-2022 cruise tourism season, after it was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Doha Port received about 8,000 visitors in December 2022, mostly from Italy and Russia. The total number of visitors in the previous season reached 100,500 passengers. Qatar's new Grand Terminal will accommodate up to 12,000 people a day. Its strategic location, minutes away from some of the city's most popular attractions is also an advantage as it brings visitors to some of the country's popular attractions such as the National Museum of Qatar, the Doha Corniche and Souq Waqif.
