Educational Structure Updated in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- True to the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to bring about a more revolutionary improvement in education, progress has been made in the work to make the educational structure innovative in our own way.

The primary and secondary education sector focuses on the development of the structure of education in order to help students acquire sufficient general basic knowledge and keep up with education in conformity with their disposition and nature.

Kindergartens capable of educating science, art, computer, robot and others were expanded and started their operation from the new school year and the curriculums related with art education was updated to provide students with conditions to acquire general knowledge.

The work for increasing technical senior middle schools (technical classes) was pushed forward on a full scale to ensure effective education according to the economic and geographical features of relevant areas and the individuality of students. As a result, more than 100 technical senior middle schools (technical classes) were newly set up across the country this year.

The structure of the higher education sector has been renovated to train more talents with practical ability and distinguished talents capable of playing a key role in the development of science, technology and economy.

Universities in the field of science and technology have pushed ahead with the work to open up subjects in the field of cutting-edge and boundary science and draw up teaching syllabus according to them. Teachers, classrooms and others have been prepared to give education.

They also discuss many practical issues such as setting rational teaching time and making effective use of educational forces and facilities in different regions. -0-
