Egypt's Ali Farag Advances for 2023 QTerminals Qatar Classic Final

Doha, September 15 (QNA) - Egypt’s Ali Farag moved into a third Qatar Classic final as the two-time champion overcame Welsh World No.10 Joel Makin in straight games 3-0 (11-7, 11-8, 11-8).
The World No.1, who ahead of the match admitted that he had been lucky to avoid defeat to Tarek Momen in the quarter-final after an uneven performance, looked far more like his dominant self today.
The 31-year-old was at his best in the opening game, with his line and length perfect as he took the lead with an 11-7 win.
Makin started the second game by forcing himself up the court and hurrying Farag with an aggressive T position.
Despite the Welshman taking an early 5-2 lead, the Egyptian fought back as he kept up with Makins relentless speed, taking back the lead as he went on to win the second game.
The Egyptian went into the third game on the front foot. He was reading all of Makins shots and played all of his very early to put pressure not the Welshman.
Makin chased everything that the No.1 seed threw at him, but Farag’s constant pushing undid Makin as the Egyptian went on to win the game 11-8 and earn his spot in the final where he will face the World No.2 Diego Elias.
Afterwards, Farag said: "I’m very proud of myself, it was a very tough match. I know the scoreline shows a 3-0 win, but every single point was very hard fought.
Farag also spoke about facing Elias for a second final in a row after beating him in Paris Squash 2023.
"The court conditions are very different here. One bad shot and you’re in a lot of trouble.
"Diego is on fire so far this week, he has been for the last couple of years, but especially this week he’s been playing very well.
"I’ll have to be at 100 percent again tomorrow, it’s very easy to be 100 percent in front an amazing crowd here in Qatar.
Farag will face Perus Diego Elias in tomorrow’s final. (QNA)
