Election Committee of Qatar Chamber Board of Directors Announces Final Lists of Candidates
Doha, April 12 (QNA) - The supervising committee of election procedures of Qatar Chamber's Board of Directors announced the final list of candidates for the Chamber's Board of Directors elections for the seventh council 2023.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry affirmed that there are eight sectors for which they are nominated, according to the regulation for the mechanism for holding elections to the Chamber's Board of Directors. The sectors include 5 representatives for trading sector, 4 for contracting, 3 for industry, and 1 representative for services, agriculture, investment, banks, tourism and insurance sectors.
The statement indicated that according to the final list of candidates announced by the committee, the trade sector included eight candidates: Mohammed Mahdi Ajian Al Ahbabi, Rashid Hamad Hazaa Hamad Al Athba, Mohammed Sultan Abdullah Al Ali, Khalid Klifaikh Khalid Al Hajri, Mohammed Jawhar Saeed Mohammed Al Mohammed, Abdulrahman Abduljalil Abdulghani Al Abdulghani, Mohammed Ali Iskandar, and Ali Jassim Jabr Tawar Al Kuwari.
In the contracting sector, there are six candidates including Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al Obaidli, Nasser Suleiman Haidar Al Haidar, Ahmed Mohammed Sultan Al Jaber, Nasser Ahmed Al Meer, Shaheen Mohammed Lahdan Al Muhannadi, and Ali Abdullatif Al Misnad. The industry sector also included six candidates: Abdullah Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Emadi, Abdulrahman Abdullah Ibrahim Al Ansari, Fahd Mohammed Fahd Buzweer, Khaled Jabr Sultan Al Kuwari, Ali Hassan Ibrahim Al Emadi, and Mohammed Talib Mohammed Al Khoury.
The candidate in the services sector was Ebtihaj Mohammed Ahmed Al Ahmadani, in the tourism sector Sheikh Hamad bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Ahmed Al-Thani, in the agricultural sector Mohammed Ahmed Khalifa Al Tawar Al Kuwari, in the insurance sector Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, and in the banking sector Rashid Nasser Sraiya Al Kaabi.
The statement pointed out that the process of electing the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber will be within the meeting of the Chamber General Assembly Meeting, which will announce the date and place of its convening at least 15 days before the date of the assembly, as the list of candidates shows that the sectors that will see competition in the elections are the trade, industry, and contracting sectors, while candidates of insurance, agriculture, tourism, services, and banks sectors will win by acclamation.
According to Article No. 9 of the Chamber Board of Directors' bylaw, the candidates may not change the sector for which they submitted their candidacy after announcing the list of candidates, while any candidate can withdraw from the nomination 15 days before the date of the General Assembly, the statement said.
HE Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued Decision No. 18 of 2023 regarding the formation of the supervising committee on the Chamber's elections, naming its members and defining their terms of reference. (QNA)
New Delhi, April 12 (QNA) - Four Indian army personnel were killed Wednesday in an armed attack inside a military station in Punjab state, north India.
The shooting incident occurred at the Bathinda military station located in the state, killing four of its personnel, Indian media reported citing a statement issued by the Indian Army.
The entrances to the station were also closed and the area was combed to search for the perpetrators, while the army and the state police are conducting a joint investigation to uncover the facts. (QNA)
