Mongolian biggest comedy festival takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ After 13 years of idleness, “Aztai Badarchin” (literal meaning Lucky Wanderer) the biggest Mongolian comedy awards festival took place at Central Cultural Palace on April 3.
The festival was organized by the initiatives of Mongolian Comedy Academy and was supported by the City Governor’s Office, Ulaanbaatar Ensemble and Cultural Palace of Ulaanbaatar. During the festival, generations of comedy authors, artists, illustrators and productions staged their notable plays and awarded the best among them.
As a referee, the seniors of the comedy industry such as the gold cup winner of “Aztai badarchin 1994” and initiator of the festival B.Batzaya, “Aztai badarchin 1996” winner State Honored Artist L.Chaminchuluun, “Aztai badarchin 1998” winner State Honored Artist D.Jagdar, “Aztai badarchin 1999” winner State Honored Artist D.Galsantogtokh, State Prize Laureate and State Honored Artist D.Sosorbaram and State Honored Cultural Figure poet Ts.Khulan, together with the randomly selected five audience have reviewed the comedy acts.
Along with the best acts of the comedy productions, the selected 5 nominees competed for the best actor and actress awards with the given assignments from the referees. The five hours of laughter and entertainment was concluded by awarding the best.
State Foremost Artist D. Battumur of Dream Theater was selected for the “Best Actor” award and State Foremost Artist B.Otgontuya of “Shine Uy” production won the “Best Actress” award in the “Aztai badarchin 2017” festival. Also, the “Best comedy illustration” award went to A.Bat-Erdene while the award for the best production went to “Mask” production.
