Iran, Belgium sign MoU on environmental cooperation

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA - Vice-President and head of Department of Environment Ma'soumeh Ebtekar and Belgian Energy Minister Marie-Christine Marghem inked an MoU on energy, environment and sustainable development. According to the Department of Environment, the MoU aims at promoting bilateral technical and long-term cooperation in environmental field. The most important issues in Iran-Belgium cooperation consisted of exploitation and sustainable management of natural resources including biodiversity, managing and protecting water, soil and weather, climate change, renewable energies and exploiting energy, green economy and clean technologies, maritime biodiversity, sea and shore management, maritime protection strategies, exploiting resources and smart cities. Both sides emphasized exchanging environmental experiences, academics and available technological and scientific information and data, organizing workshops, seminars, training courses, field trips and work groups, developing joint research or technical projects, finding trade opportunities and transferring technical knowledge. The MoU will remain valid for a period of 5 years based on which both sides will form a work group for coordinating, monitoring and assessing the measures. 1378/IRNA
