Strong Quake Strikes Northern Sumatra

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, occurred at 6.03am on Wednesday in northern Sumatra, Indonesia, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department. It said in a statement that the epicentre of the earthquake was 77km northeast of Banda Acheh, Indonesia, and 440km southwest of Langkawi in Malaysia's northern state Kedah.
