Strong Quake Strikes Tajikistan-Xinjiang Border

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck a border area of Tajikistan and China's Xinjiang region at 10.24pm Friday, according to the Meteorological Department. It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 475km northeast of Taloqan, Afghanistan, and 4,477km northwest of Padang Besar, Perlis. The quake did not pose any threat of a tsunami, it added. -- BERNAMA
