Regional anti-corruption forum
Almaty, 6 November 2008, (Khabar) - Members of regional anti-corruption forum are sure that strict laws and high living standards are the most effective methods in the fight against corruption.
It is even planned to
establish a database of corrupt officials. In Almaty, memoranda about
cooperation with public prosecutor's office, the financial police, the land
department, the National Security Committee Department and agencies on civil
service affairs were signed. These measures helped a lot in improving the
situation.
Members of the "Nur Otan" party have held a meeting on the central square of
Atyrau to raise anti-corruption consciousness in the people.
Nurlan Azamatov, executive secretary of Atyrau regional "Zhas Otan" council:
- The fight against corruption is one of the most important aims of the
society and we are going to promote it. We are going to organize different
campaigns, opinion polls and to open an anonymous hot line.
Fighters against corruption in Karaganda are sure that the most important
thing is prevention and they believe that it is necessary to create
conditions of intolerability to such phenomena and to use all their
resources and attract the media in order to increase the consciousness of
citizens. To implement this, special working groups on fighting corruption
were created under the local social council.
Such areas as affairs on the use and protection of land and state purchases
are mostly subject to corruption. Since the beginning of the year, 27 people
have been brought to trial for bribery. The head of the region and member of
the "Nur Otan" political council, Bakhytzhan Sagiyev believes that if civil
servants were brought to task for bribery, their head should also be
dismissed from office. Members of the regional forum developed a number of
recommendations including the creation of a new system which will make it
very dangerous to steal from the government and also make it unprofitable.
They believe that a new national plan for the counteraction of corruption
should be created.
