Working meetings of President of RK

Astana, 15 January 2009, Khabar - Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a number of meetings in the Ak Orda residency in Astana. One of the meetings was attended by the Minister for Environmental Protection of the republic, Nurlan Iskakov who reported to the president on the results of work done by the Ministry in 2008. The commander of the US Central Command, General David Petraeus was also welcomed by Kazakhstan’s president to the Ak Orda. The high ranking guest started his tour of Central Asia with a stop in Kazakhstan. The US General expressed his appreciation to Nursultan Nazarbayev for Kazakhstan’s active position in the global counter-terrorist fight and shared his first impressions of the Republic.

David Petraeus, Commander of the US Central Command:
- I am impressed with Kazakhstan’s achievements reached over the past 17 years of its independence. I am also surprised by Astana and its rate of construction. Speaking about the capital city, it is a real success for the country.
