GCC Secretary General: Unified Military Command is a Source of Pride, One of Most Significant GCC Achievements
Riyadh, May 08, 2023, SPA – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi affirmed that the GCC Unified Military Command is a source of pride, an example to follow, and one of the most significant achievements of the GCC, due to its important contribution to unifying and coordinating military efforts to ensure the security and stability of the GCC states and defend them within the framework of the joint defense agreement and through the presence of a joint and unified Gulf military command of the GCC states.
The Secretary General’s statements came during his visit to the headquarters of the GCC Unified Military Command in Riyadh on Monday, where he was received by Lieutenant General Eid bin Awad Al Shalawi, the Commander of the GCC Unified Military Command.
During the visit, the GCC Secretary General stated that the establishment and activation of the GCC Unified Military Command came with the blessing of the leaders of the GCC countries, stemming from their belief in the importance of coordination and unification of efforts between the armed forces. He said the GCC Unified Military Command is considered one of the greatest joint Gulf military achievements.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi said that the presence and diligent work of the officers, non-commissioned officers, and members of the GCC countries in the Unified Military Command is a source of pride to the well-established and extended Gulf system. He expressed thanks and appreciation to the Lt. Gen. Al Shalawi and the members of the GCC Unified Military Command for their continuous and distinguished efforts in the march of joint Gulf military action.
During the visit, the Secretary General was briefed on the work and tasks of the Unified Military Command, as well as the duties assigned to it, and discussed several matters related to joint Gulf military action to further strengthen the blessed course of the Cooperation Council, in order to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of the GCC countries, in line with the visions and directives of the leaders of the GCC countries.
