16 Players To Represent Malaysia At Lawn Bowls World Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- Sixteen lawn bowl players, eight men and eight women, from the elite squad have been selected to represent Malaysia at the Lawn Bowls World Championship in Adelaide, Australia in November. Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) president, Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said the squad,coached by Dr Simon Botha and Zuraidi Puteh, would also undergo preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. "They are the core of our team who will participate in the World Championship at the end of this year in which for three years, we finished in third place. "We hope Malaysia will finish among the top three," he told reporters after closing the 2012 National Singles Championship at Bukit Kiara Sports Complex here Monday. The men's team is made up of Safuan Said, Saufi Rosli, Fairuz Izwan Abdul Muin, Muhd Syamil Syazwan, Khairul Anuar Abd Kadir, Mohd Azwan Shuhaimi, Mohd Hizlee Abd Rais and Mohd Fairuz Jabal. Azlina Arshad, Emma Firyana Saroji, Maisarah Aminludin, Noor Zafirah Mohd Noor, Zuraini Khalid, Auni Fatihiah Kamis, Norehawani Daud and Nabila Mokhtar make up the women's team. -- BERNAMA
