18 Puskesmas In Jakarta To Be Converted Into Hospitals

Jakarta, Oct 17 (Antara) - Eighteen public health service posts (puskesmas) in Jakarta will soon be transformed into type D hospitals, Dien Emmawati, the head of the Jakarta health office, stated here on Friday. "The gubernatorial regulation regarding the change in the status of puskesmas has been in place. We will just decide who will fill the posts of directors in the hospitals," she noted. Under Gubernatorial Regulation No. 1024/2014, the directors of the hospitals are class IIIB civil servants, she revealed. "The 18 sub-district puskesmas, which will be changed into type D hospitals, have provided inpatient healthcare services in the past few years," she pointed out. Dien stated that so far, 29 out of the 44 puskesmas in the capital had provided inpatient healthcare services. The status change was intended to improve the services offered to the public, particularly those living in densely populated areas, she emphasized. "With the change in status, we hope that there will no longer be crowds of patients at puskesmas. The type D hospitals will treat the residents who suffer from minor diseases," she noted. The 18 puskesmas are located in the sub-districts of Johar Baru, Cempaka Putih, Kemayoran, Sawah Besar, Menteng, Kramat Jati, Pasar Rebo, Ciracas, Tebet, Kebayoran Lama, Mampang Prapatan, Pesanggrahan, Jagakarsa, Kembangan, Kalideres, Cilincing, Pademangan, and Koja.
