19 Thai provinces remain flooded

BANGKOK, July 29 (TNA) - A total of 19 provinces throughout Thailand are still under floodwater to date, according to an announcement issued by Interior Ministry’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department. The announcement said 40 provinces were hit by floods between July 5 – 28, but the situations in 21 provinces have now eased. It said out of the 19 flood-hit provinces, 10 are in the Northeastern region, two in the North, five in the Central and the rest of two in the South. The general situation is considered not worrisome, except in the northeastern province of Sakon Nakhon where the floodwater level keeps on rising because of continued torrential rain. The airport in the province remains closed because both the airport and the runway are under high floodwater. Flood victims can ask for assistance around-the-clock through a hotline number 1784. (TNA)
