2012 Australia Endeavour Awards For 12 Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- Twelve outstanding Malaysians have been picked for the Australia Endeavour Awards worth RM3.3 million (US$1.05 million) this year. This year's group of scholars will pursue studies in areas such as human rights law and policy, business management, medicine and biological sciences as well as electronic engineering. Australian High Commissioner Miles Kupa said the scholarships were part of Canberra's contribution to strengthen Australia-Malaysia bilateral ties. "It's also a continuation of the Colombo Plan initiated in 1950, to support exceptional individuals in pursuit of education excellence in Australia," he said after presenting the scholarships. He said it was heartening to note that high-achieving Malaysians continued to walk through the halls of Australia's universities, adding value to the international education experience of both countries. -- BERNAMA
