6P Legalisation Process For Illegals Ends On Jan 10

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry on Thursday announced that the legalisation process for illegals under the 6P Programme would end on Jan 10. The ministry said the announcement was made to avoid public confusion over the matter following rumours that it would end on Friday. The government had on Aug 1 last year, introduced the large-scale legalisation and amnesty exercise for illegal migrant workers in order to register them through the 6P Programme (Phase 1). Following the initiative by some management companies of going to remote plantations to persuade the illegals to register as legal workers, the government extended the Aug 21, 2011 deadline to Aug 31, 2011.
