87,9 THOUSAND CHILDREN IMMUNIZED FOR PNEUMONIA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Out of children with clinical suspicion of pneumonia, 32-40 percent were diagnosed with advanced stage of the disease for the past three years. Over 60 percent of children treated at hospitals could be discharged to be treated at home. Specialists at Ministry of Health emphasized that these statistics indicate the importance of prevention measures. Vaccines were administered to 87,9 thousand children under 2 years old in Sukhbaatar, Songinokhairkhan, Bayanzurkh districts in 2016 and 2017. Systematic pneumonia vaccination is indicated in Government action plan for 2016-2020. In accordance with the plan, MNT 1 billion is allocated in 2018 State Budget for three-step immunization of 36 thousand children in Khan-Uul, Bayangol, Chingeltei, Nalaikh, Baganuur, Bagakhangai districts. With approval of Minister of Health, children would be administered the first dose at 2 months-old, second at 4-months-old and third at 9-months-old. After vaccinations in 2016 and 2017, the disease rate fell by 40 percent among vaccinated children and no deaths occurred. O.Onon
