AA correspondent visits several Syrian provinces

ANKARA (A.A) - Political observers in Syria claimed that a regime change in Syria would take place in a bloody way. AA correspondent visited several provinces of Syria, including Damascus, Aleppo, Hama and Homs, and chatted with people and opinion leaders. Syrian people hope that Syrian airspace would be closed. They consider when its airspace is closed, army's pressure and violence on the people would ease and an armed uprising would take place. People say that blasts in Damascus were staged to defame opponents and to give a message that Syrian government protected the people against terrorists. Officials told the AA that presence of Arab observers created a relief in the country. No one except the regime wants incidents to be turned into Alawite-Sunni clash. However, political observers consider that such a clash would not occur. People clearly criticize the regime, but they are also unwilling to participate in demonstrations. Not regime opponents, but regime backers are holding demonstrations in Damascus. Schools and business places are open in Damascus and Aleppo, but there is a stagnation in business life. On the other hand, the situation in Hama and Homs is very different. There is civil war in these provinces.  Severe clashes take place especially in Homs with a population of 2 million. Almost 20 people die in the province a day. These provinces are under control of soldiers during the day, and are controlled by opponents at night. AA correspondent chatted with people and soldiers on streets of Homs. People cannot walk on streets because of snipers. Shops are closed in Homs, which seems like a ghost city. Demonstrations are being held continuously in Homs not only Fridays but also all other days of the week.  There are no phone lines and there is power cut time to time in Hama. Hamid al Hamavi, member of local committees of Hama, claimed that observes who came from several countries to Syria took orders from their countries not to report what happened in Syria in a negative way. "I would like to clearly say that observers of some countries have been acting in favor of the government. They carry out examination in places determined by the government," he said in an interview with the AA through internet. Hamavi said that observers who want to conduct examination in place where clashes took place were taken to different places, name plates of districts have been changed. Hamavi said that Syria has violated observer delegation protocol that it signed with the Arab League and tanks were still in provinces.  No attack has been staged in Damascus in Syrian capital of Damascus for 40 years, he said and adding that but two suicide bombings were staged in the capital in the past one month and the government got what it wanted. Hamavi said that attacks were staged one day after the delegation of observers arrived in the province. Those attacks were staged by the government to show as if attacks targeting at security forces and the people had been staged by opponents. Hamavi said these attacks divided the delegation of observers into two groups. "There are disagreements between observers from Gulf Countries and observers form other countries. Some of them say there is no extraordinary situation in the country. The other group say that regime tries to oppress the people by violence," he said. Hamavi said that intelligence forces captured activists and civilians who spoke with observers by phone. After the people learnt that, they only talked to observers on streets for five or ten minutes, he added.
