Actress, Dancer Nabbed For Online Sex Trade in India

CHENNAI, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- An actress and a dancer allegedly involved in an online sex racket operated by a husband-wife team were held in Coimbatore last Saturday, according to reports. The city's anti-vice squad detained the television actress and the movie dancer, along with three other women, all suspected to have engaged in an inter-state flesh trade, reported a local daily. The gang's activity, from a rented house in Kottaipalayam in the textile city of Coimbatore, was exposed after police arrested a 37-year-old kingpin and two pimps. "We had planned to conduct surprise raids at various places in the district. Our police team was watching the sex racket's activities," the Times of India quoted E.S. Uma, Coimbatore district superintendent of police, as saying. Police did not reveal the identity of the actress but said all transactions -- from appointments to clients' payments -- were done online. The ring leader's wife, also a key operator of the clandestine business disguised as an escort service agency, was in hiding, said local police. The same gang leader was arrested last April for a similar offence in Coimbatore. Last Tuesday, police arrested a popular Marathi actress in Pune, in the state of Maharashtra, for operating a sex racket. -- BERNAMA
