Al Ain Zoo celebrates winners of Photography Contest 2015

Al Ain Zoo has celebrated the winners of its photo and video contest, Zoography 2015, in its fourth consecutive year, at a recognition ceremony hosted at the zoo. Contestants, comprising both amateur and professional photographers, had the chance to capture candid zoo moments and submit their best photos for all of the contest categories in an initiative that supports Al Ain Zoo’s commitment to wildlife conservation. At the award ceremony, each winner was given a camera from the sponsors of the contest, Grand Stores, after which the group was treated to an exclusive tour of the zoo. The winners will also have their photos displayed around the Zoo. Eight categories formed the Zoography competition; ‘Arid Land’, ‘My day at Al Ain Zoo’, ‘At Play’, ‘Snackattack!’, ‘At Rest’, ‘Friendship’, ‘Poser’, and, the zoo’s answer to selfies, ‘Zoofies’. Muna Al Dhaheri, Chief Conservation and Education officer at Al Ain Zoo, said, "When people are passionate about nature and wildlife photography, and are given the environment and an opportunity to promote their talent, participation is at its highest. In this instance, Al Ain Zoo was delighted to receive hundreds of submissions from fans, all of whom showcased great enthusiasm. We would like to thank each of them for their participation, which helps to shed light on the zoo’s efforts to conserve endangered species.
