Al Qattara Arts Centre launches student engagement programme

AL AIN, 6th February, 2018 (WAM) -- Al Qattara Arts Centre has announced the launch of its student engagement programme for 2018. The programme, which targets all learning stages, is aligned with the Department’s mandate to integrate the dynamic cultures of old and new in order to curate a legacy of cultural excellence, as well as educating and sharing traditional and cultural heritage with future generations. Organised by Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism and open to all schools, the programme is open to student visits from Sundays to Thursday, from 8am to 2pm. It offers tours of the ancient fort structure where the centre is located, alongside a series of workshops exploring arts and culture. Al Qattara Arts Centre is fully equipped with classrooms, an art and pottery studio, a digital room for photography classes, a showroom, a library, and a reception office for visitor services. Students will also get the chance to visit the Al Qattara Souq and the Qattara Oasis, where they can learn about the traditional architecture of the popular market area and historical oasis ecosystem and the Aflaj irrigation system. The programme is open for all schools to register during the current semester and will return next semester.
