ALL BABIES OF ULAANBAATAR TO GET VACCINATED

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ From March 1, 2-month babies started being given the Pneumococcal Vaccine 13-valent (PCV13) in Bayangol, Baganuur, Bagakhangai, Nalaikh, Khan-Uul and Chingeltei districts, according to a resolution of Health Minister. Second dose of the vaccine will be given in their 4th and third will be in their 9th months. It becomes a part of the routine childhood immunization. The children, aged between 2 months and 2 years old, of Songinokhairkhan and Sukhbaatar districts started being vaccinated with the vaccine from 2016 whilst Bayanzurkh district conducts vaccination from 2017. The PCV 13 helps protect against 13 types of pneumococcal bacteria that most commonly cause serious infections in children and adults.
