Ambassador Encourages Indonesian Citizens In Russia To Maintain Unity

LONDON, Aug 18 (Antara) - The Indonesian state was built on the principles of unity in diversity and not based on ethnicity, religion, class, and minorities, Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus M. Wahid Supriyadi stated. He made the statement during the memorial service of the 72nd anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, which was attended by some 300 Indonesians in Russia, staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, students, workers, and other Indonesian citizens visiting Russia and Russian citizens at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow on Thursday. First Secretary of the Executive Function of Information, Social Affairs, and Culture of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow Enjay Dian remarked on Friday that the event was also attended by Ambassador Vladimir Plotnikov and those harboring a love for Indonesia and had spent over two decades in the country. He said it was a matter of joy to jointly celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Indonesia at the embassy. "I had first attended the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of Indonesia on Aug 17, 1966, in Banjarmasin," Plotnikov, who speaks Indonesian language fluently, said. Celebrations to mark the anniversary of the Indonesian Independence Day comprised a dance by students of the Indonesian School of Moscow; a performance by the Koes-Mos band or Koes Plus from Moscow, with Supriyadi and Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs Kiki Kusprabowo as the vocalists; a gamelan show and modern musical collaboration; and karaoke competition of Russian citizens singing Indonesian songs. During his speech, Supriyadi invited all citizens in Russia to synergize with the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to build and maintain the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. All elements of Indonesian society in Russia were encouraged to cooperate to ensure the implementation of each program of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow. In addition, he expressed the commitment of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to always safeguard all Indonesian citizens in Russia. According to Supriyadi, all elements of the Indonesian nation should forge unity, synergy, and cooperation to commemorate the Indonesian anniversary themed "Indonesia Works Together."
