Annual meeting of EBRD Board of Directors may be held in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 15 / Trend E. Aliyev / Baku may host the annual meeting of the EBRD Board of Directors in 2017. Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev voiced this initiative at a meeting with a delegation led by EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti, the Ministry reported on Monday. According to the report, Mustafayev stressed the advisability of attracting Azerbaijani young specialists for vacancies in the bank. Before the meeting, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijan's economic success. During the exhibition Mustafayev informed an EBRD delegation about the socio-economic progress made by the country for the last 10 years, the current activities in this area and targeted state programs. Mustafayev said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the relations with EBRD. The minister also said that Chakrabarti's visit to the country testifies to the successful bilateral cooperation. Mustafayev appreciated EBRD's participation in various projects, implemented in Azerbaijan, and the bank's support for the country's private sector. It was stressed during the meeting that the loans worth $ 2.1 billion were delivered within 134 projects during EBRD's activity in Azerbaijan. Around 1.4 billion of these funds were directed to support 125 projects in the private sector. EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti appreciated the country's progress for the last ten years and measures on diversification of the national economy. He also put forward the initiative of holding "Days of Azerbaijan" in EBRD headquarters. Chakrabarti welcomed the initiative to hold the EBRD Board of Directors in Baku, stressing that he will continue activity aimed at the development of the relations with Azerbaijan.
