Authorities urgently assists troubled Thai workers in Kuwait

BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - The Ministry of Labour is urgently assisting some 100 Thai workers in Kuwait whose wages have not yet been paid although they have completed their employment contracts with a Kuwait-based construction company. Sanga Tanasanguanwong, Secretary to the Thai Labour Minister, told reporter on Wednesday that the Thai workers have claimed that the Kuwaiti construction firm has refused to pay their final-month wages and bonus, making them unable to return home. Sanga acknowledged that his ministry has coordinated with the Thai Labour Counsellor in Saudi Arabia to probe the case and to report back to Thailand within the next couple of days so that further action will be immediately taken to assist the stranded Thai workers in Kuwait.
