Ayutthaya kicks off tree planting project

AYUTTHAYA, Aug 7 (TNA) – Ayutthaya kicked off a tree planting project in the central province of Ayutthaya, presided over by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha. Gen Prayut on Monday morning led a team of officials, aboard a helicopter to Ayutthaya to launch the tree planting project at a learning center for the natural resource and environment management in Bang Ban district. Ayutthaya province is a model for garbage management and now, it is also designated as a model for the "Pracharat" civil-state project for growing trees. Today’s tree planting campaign was held at the Mahapram sub-district municipality. About 10,000 trees were planted on about 100 rai (40 acres) of land. Saplings are available to hand out to the public for joining the campaign to grow trees at home or on their lands. The similar project will be launched nationwide as the government targets to have 10 million trees being grown across the country. The campaign will run until Sept 30. (TNA)
