Badminton Among Young Good For Racial Integration -Deputy Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- Badminton is a sport that can enhance racial integration in the country said Deputy Information Communications and Culture Minister Maglin Dennis D'Cruz. "Badminton is played in schools at an early age by all races and that will certainly help in enhancing racial integration in the country," he said after giving out prizes to winners in the 2012 Federal Territories Day tournament, here Sunday. He said the tournament that featured competitions in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-16 saw 650 participants taking part. "Tournaments like this are very beneficial to children to enhance their playing skill. I hope such tournaments can continue to be organised in the future. Maybe in the future the government can assist to organise such tournaments at a bigger scale," he said. The tournament which started on March 10, was jointly organised by the Federal Territory Youth and Sports Department, Federal Territory Education Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Kuala Lumpur Veteran Badminton Association, Kuala Lumpur Women's Badminton Association and Axel Sports. --BERNAMA
