Bahrain attends Arab Labour Conference

Cairo, Apr. 14 (BNA): The 46th Arab Labour Conference opened today in Cairo under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan led Bahrain’s delegation to the pan-Arab conference, which will run until the 21st of April. The delegation included ministry’s officials, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) board member Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al-Khalifa, Bahrain's Free Labour Unions Federation (Al Hurr) Executive President Yaqoub Yousef Mohammed and General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions Deputy Secretary-General Abdul Qader Al-Shehabi. The minister also attended yesterday the regular coordination meeting of the GCC Labour Ministers’ Council, which discussed the issues featuring on the agenda of the 46th Arab Labour Conference. They also discussed joint Arab programmes, projects and initiatives which are aimed at promoting labour issues and developing human resources. The minister stressed the Bahraini Government’s keenness on supporting and consolidating pan-Arab cooperation to confront challenges facing the Arab labour markets. He stressing the importance of the conference as a platform to exchange pioneering labour practices in the Arab countries, expressing the hope that the outcome of the conference would serve Arab labour markets.
