Bahrain marks World Health Day

Manama, Apr.6 (BNA): Bahrain will tomorrow, Sunday, join the other nations in celebrating the World Health Day, which falls on the 7th of April. The 2019 edition of the global awareness day is being held this year under the slogan “Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere”. A festival was held today at the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Park, under the patronage of Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh. The event was also attended by senior officials and employees working with the Ministry of Health, authorities related to the festival, citizens and residents. The Ministry of Health is organising the festival in cooperation with Bapco, embodying the principle of community partnership between the public and private sectors. The World Health Day is celebrated every year all over the world to mark the anniversary of the World Health Organisation (WHO), which held is first World Health Assembly in 1948. The World Health Day has been celebrated since 1950, providing an opportunity to draw worldwide attention to a subject of major importance to global health every year. The 2019 edition chose to highlight the importance of promoting universal health coverage and developing primary heath-care and engaging people to play an active role in functions aimed at improving health standards in he the world. Addressing the festival, the minister affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to provide comprehensive health services to all people and keep abreast of health strides in the world. An exhibition is being held on the sidelines of the festival, lining up entertainment activities which include drawing and face-painting, in addition to a walking marathon, free medical check ups and other activities.
