Bahrain's dynamic, proactive diplomacy praised

07 : 35 PM - 02/03/2017 Manama, Mar. 2 (BNA): Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said since the establishment of modern Bahrain, the kingdom has followed a dynamic, proactive policy that positively interacted with regional and international developments and successfully defended the nation’s higher interests and consolidated its achievements. In the editorial of the first edition of the Diplomatic Gazette, issued by the Foreign Ministry and of which Bahrain News Agency (BNA) obtained a copy, the minister stressed that " Bahrain’s diplomacy has steadily played an active role in various activities and diplomatic events." He added that Bahrain's representatives have not confined themselves to a passive role but worked diligently to convey the kingdom's stances and visions in regional and international fora. "They regularly highlighted the nation’s profound commitment to the values that the Kingdom holds dear and cherishes greatly of moderation and rationality in stances, wisdom and consistency in policies, and depth of vision and good management in issues," the minister noted. He added that Bahrain’s diplomacy has been able, throughout decades of diligent work and focused efforts, to achieve the goals it had set out to accomplish, drawing on its strategic location and on its outstanding regional and global links. The minister affirmed Bahrain's ability to consolidate its relations with various countries and enhance its regional and international standing through its achievements and commitment to the principles of peace, development and good neighbourliness. He pointed out that the accomplishments brought about by Bahrain's diplomacy and the advanced status reached could not have been achieved without the tremendous support and essential directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also stressed that the wisdom of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa coupled with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, are critical factors in the success story of Bahrain’s diplomacy. " The fundamental role of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the first Foreign Minister, in founding Bahrain’s diplomacy is another highly praised cornerstone," he noted. The minister said The Diplomatic Gazette aims to showcase the progressiveness of Bahrain and highlight the various diplomatic, political and cultural efforts and activities undertaken in the kingdom. He added the edition will also tackle important issues of concern in an analytical approach for the benefit of readers and researchers. The edition also included a piece by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa in which he expressed hope the Diplomatic Gazette would become part of a renewable era of diplomatic communication and an assertion of values Bahrain is making sturdy efforts to achieve.
