Bahrain's first-rate historic documentation recognised

Cairo, Oct. 21 (BNA): The Arab League has honoured the Isa Cultural Centre (ICC)’s historic documentation centre in recognition of its role in historic documents preservation within the first-rate category. Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General for Media and Communications Dr. Badr El-Deen Alali on behalf of Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheith delivered a memorial trophy to Head of the ICC’s Historic Documentation Centre, Rashid Essa Al Jassim, in the presence of Arab League’s Assistant Secretary-general for Arab National Security Sector, Khalil Ebrahim Al Thawadi, Media Expert at the Secretary-General’s Office, Ahmed Al Morshid, Bahraini diplomats, members of the Arab diplomatic corps in Cairo, and specialists. On this occasion, Al Jassim conveyed the greetings of Deputy Board of Trustees Chairman and Executive Director of Isa Cultural Centre, Dr. Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to the Arab League’s general-secretariat officials, and his deep gratitude and appreciation for choosing to honour Bahrain this year. The honouring of ICC documentation centre marks the 40th anniversary since its foundation, Al Jassim said, adding that the centre undertakes a key role in preservation of Bahrain’s cultural archives and contributes to safeguarding the historic sovereign boundaries of Bahrain. He paid tribute to the HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa the late President of the Isa Cultural Centre in establishment of the centre and its management. The centre today provides all capabilities and facilitations at the disposal of researchers in Bahrain and outside. It also continuous develops and extends cooperation bridges with regional and international specialized centres and institutions to benefit from modern expertise in the field of history and documentation, he said. The Arab League annually celebrates the Arab Document Day dedicated to the theme of (Al Quds the Capital of Palestine State) six years consecutively, reaffirming that the Palestinian cause is the Arabs’ principal issue in the face of Zionist encroachment on the Palestinian cultural heritage and legacy. The celebration was held simultaneously with the Palestinian Heritage Day.
