Bangladesh Government Thankful Over Employment For 32 Nationals

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- The Bangladeshi Government is grateful to the Malaysian Government, especially the home ministry, for allowing 32 Bangladeshi nationals who are former victims of human trafficking for labour exploitation, to continue working in Malaysia. According to a statement issued by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, they had arrived in Malaysia legally, a few years ago, and worked for a local company. It said that being victims of exploitation, they became jobless from June 2010 and since then, were at a shelter home. "The initiative taken by the Malaysian Government to bring them under the 6P (legalisation) programme is undoubtedly commendable," said the high commission, adding that it reflected Malaysia's endeavour in protecting, as well as rehabilitating victims of exploitation. The statement said "this kind gesture" of the Malaysian Government would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. A news report on Wednesday said that the 32 Bangladeshis would be the first group to take up employment here under the government's policy decision on human trafficking victims. -- BERNAMA
