Cambodians flock to work in Thailand

CHANTABURI, THAILAND, January 4 (TNA) - Flows of Cambodians have been travelling across the border to work in Thailand, where daily minimum wages have been increased to 300 baht equally in all areas nationwide since January 1, 2013. In Chantaburi province in the Thai East, for instance, there are also new businesses emerging along the common border resulting from the new wage hike, apart from an influx of the Cambodian workers. One of the emerging businesses is becoming middle men or brokers for Cambodian workers who are finding jobs in Thailand. The brokers, mostly are also Cambodians, take care of the Cambodian migrants' official documents required for seeking jobs at Thai plants, in return for earning about 4,000-6,000 baht from each of the Cambodian job seekers.
