Car bomb outside police houses in Pattani

PATTANI, Aug 17 (TNA) - A car bomb exploded outside the police houses in Pattani’s Mayo district on Thursday morning but no one was wounded in the incident. The car used in the pre-dawn attack was one of the six pick-up trucks, stolen from a used car dealer tent in Songkhla’s Nathawi district yesterday. A man parked the vehicle outside the houses of the police officials and fled the scene quickly before the car bomb exploded. At least three houses were partly damaged. Pol Lt Gen Sakon Thongmunee, chief of Provincial Police Region 9 said the police are gathering evidence and expect to issue arrest warrants for those involved in the robbery of the pick-up trucks and the bombing within the next two days. The police have already found the rest of five stolen vehicles. It is believed that assailants assembled the bombs in the area, connecting the two provinces of Songkhla and Pattani. Meanwhile, there is a report that one more pickup truck was robbed in Pattani’s Yarang district yesterday morning. The police are searching for the vehicle to prevent it being used in a new attack.
