Commemorative coins for late king go out of stock

BANGKOK, Aug 24 (TNA) - A large number of people have placed orders for commemorative coins, minted for the royal cremation of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej while the Treasury Department will decide whether it will produce more coins to meet high demand. On the second day of receiving coin orders on Wednesday, three out of all four types of the coins, which are gold, silver and sandblasted, black-coated bronze coins have already been out of the stock. Only copper-nickel coins are available now. Patchara Anuntasilpa, Director- General of the Treasury Department expected all orders will be reserved within the next two days. The department initially has no plan to mint more coins but it will talk to related agencies to consider making more coins for those who have already used their ID cards to make purchase orders of the coins but want to buy other types of coins that have been out of stock. He also warned the public not to buy coin order forms from others as they can be cheated and lost their money without getting the coins. The director-general said the commemorative coins will be ready for picking up in January. Those who placed the orders must present their ID cards and order forms to receive the coins. (TNA)
