Continue Role For Rapid Growth Media Urged, Melaka CM

MELAKA (Malaysia), Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's media must continue in their role to bridge the people and the government to ensure rapid growth, said Melaka chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam. Speaking at the 2011 Melaka Perdana Media Night Monday, he said," I praise the country's media as they have maintained and upheld journalistic ethics, which is, to disseminate the latest news and government related information to the public." "I believe the local media, be it print or electronic, would continue playing its role in carrying out that agenda and meet the demands of its audience," he emphasised. Also present at the event were Head of State Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Melaka State Assembly speaker Othman Muhamad, state government secretary Omar Kaseh and Bernama deputy editor-in-chief Zulkefli Salleh. -- BERNAMA
