Corby's Release Can Be Revoked

Jakarta, Feb 14 (Antara) - Deputy Law and Human Rights Minister Denny Indrayana said he would revoke Schapelle Leigh Corby`s release on a parole if she went on an exclusive interview with Channel Seven of Australia. "We have decided that we disagree with the arranged exclusive interview because it can cause a polemic. If it happens, Corby`s release on a parole can be revoked," he said as quoted by Kompas on Friday. In securing the decision, Denny suggested that this 36-year-old convicted drug smuggler of Queensland refuse the TV station`s offered exclusive interview. Corby was found guilty by an Indonesian court in Bali of smuggling 4.2 kilograms of marijuana into the country through Ngurah Rai International Airport in October 2004. Corby was then sent to jail in 2005 for 20 years but the prison authorities gave her various sentence reductions, and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono granted her a five-year-sentence cut. On Monday morning, she was released but she must stay in Indonesia until 2017 to meet her parole conditions.
