SONGKHLA, Aug 1 (TNA) – Thousands of counterfeit items, worth more than nine million baht were seized in Hat Yai business district of Songkhla, Director of the Regional Customs Bureau 4, Krisada Thongthammachat told a press conference today.
He said the total 1,439 confiscated items of fake brand-name goods are bags, shoes, watches and clothes.
The Customs Department has implemented the government’s international trade policy to crack down on infringement of intellectual property rights, he said.
The Prime Minister ordered related agencies to launch three-month intensive campaign to crack down the violation of intellectual property rights from June to August. The suppression will continue afterward, he added.
Thailand remains on the US Priority Watch List in the 2017 Special 301 Report, released in April by the US Trade Representative (USTR) along with nine other countries.
These countries will be the subject of intense bilateral engagement during the coming year," the agency said in the report. (TNA)
